Prosperity Practice: Do ~ Dump ~ Delegate ~ Delay

After over 35+ years as a business owner, here's what I've found – my brain is usually chock full of ideas — too many ideas. Can you relate?

Getting all those thoughts and ideas out of my head digitally or onto paper frees up space for breakthrough ideas and creative solutions to come in. When I have too many ideas, it blocks my intuition, makes it hard to think clearly because my brain is in gridlock, and often results in confusion and procrastination.

To make sure you are the Chief Executive Officer of your life and business rather than the Chief Everything Officer, it is important that you are clear about where to focus your time and energy. It can be tempting to do things that are in your comfort zone, rather than focus on those things that will accelerate your progress. Like, I’ve never done that! 🙂 How about you?

Steps to Creating MindSpace - Do ~ Dump ~ Delegate ~ Delay

Take a look at how you are currently spending your time and make conscious decisions about what you want to Do, Dump, Delegate, or Delay. If it’s helpful, answer the questions first for your personal life and then your business.

1. As you reflect on your life and business, what are the things you want to, or know you need to, focus more on?

2. What do you want to focus less on, things that are a waste of time or that aren’t your strong suit?

3. Make a list of your core commitments and life/business maintenance routines. These are ongoing things that require your time and energy, rather than projects.

4. Next, make a list of projects, big and small. Once you complete a project, it's done, unlike life/business maintenance routines.

5. Go back and review your core routines and commitments. Make a list of which ones you want to:

DO (include nurturing and nourishing things that you want to DO)

DUMP (things that are not aligned with your vision and goals)

DELEGATE (maybe hire a housekeeper or a Virtual Assistant :-)

DELAY (something you still want to do but not right now). Remember, if you made a commitment to something, it is ok to change your commitment.
